Ireland, 2006
Doug wanted us to go.
We had been planning our trip to Ireland for five years, but didn't want to go once Sherwood's son, Doug, found that his cancer had come back. He was adamant, as only Doug could be, that no such change in plan should happen, insisted that we go, and that he wanted to see "lots of pictures" when we returned. He had wanted for years to go to Ireland himself, and now needed us to go for him. We went for him as well as for ourselves, and that function in part explains the hectic pace at which we took pictures -- and kept more than 2,400 of them.
We went in August, 2006, and this is the slide show we presented to him when we returned. We like to think that it helped him endure, just a tiny bit, his last weeks. He passed away on November 14th, and the family's photo tribute to him can be seen by clicking this link.
Doug's Ireland slide show is more than 450 slides in total, it is broken up here for piecemeal viewing convenience. All images are available at much higher resolution by request. Please send any inquiries, comments, or corrections to Sherwood Harrington by use of this link.
