Diane had long been an admirer of Connemara Ponies, and had been aware that the most famous display of this hardy breed is held in Ireland annually. When we first visited Clifden earlier in the month, we found that the main event in the 2006 show was to be held on August 17th, so she quickly made reservations to come back for it. We are very, very happy that we did -- the show itself was a day-long blast, but the surrounding crowd, side-displays (like an American county fair), and setting was an absolute delight. Especially the people.
