Our first long-distance foray from Birr (magenta line) was to Clifden in the Connemara region of western Ireland.
We had reserved two nights at a wonderful small hotel, Byrne's Mal Dua House, for our first visit to Connemara and as a base for a trip to the Aran Islands.
