The Ahwahnee Hotel

The hotel alone was worth the trip. Built in the late 1920's, it is usually billed as a "luxury" hotel -- but it really defies being placed in a neat cubbyhole category. If you expect the Fairmont-in-the-Mountains, then you will be disappointed -- but if you expect a unique and stunning stay, then you won't be.
