On the other side of the castle from the public area one can see this tower, which appears to be a ruin, but is actually a "folly."  Lady Rosse writes that "it and the [castle] walls were built during the famine time when people were paid with food for work."  For more on "Famine Follies," see this article in Wikipedia. .
