Kings Canyon is not a terribly over-populated park to begin with, and especially so after Labor Day -- I felt like I had the place to myself for two days. This is an off-the-paved-roads area called "Stump Meadow," a now-isolated meadow punctuated by hundred-year-old stumps of ancient redwoods felled in the lumber frenzy.
