Moneygall, Co. Offaly, a village on the old N7 between Roscrea and Limerick, earned brief fame in 2011, the year after our visit.  President Obama paid a visit here, since it is where one of his great-great-grandfathers, a cobbler, lived before he emigrated to the U.S. in 1850.
