The village of Liscannor on its bay.

In the foreground are some of the milling tourists on the Cliffs of Moher preserve.  Just off the left of the frame (to the East) is the town of Lahinch, and just beyond that is the town of Ennistymon, at the intersection of the busy tourist routes N85 and N67.

We had driven from Ballyvaughan to the Cliffs by way of back roads hugging the coast, but returned by way of Ennistymon.  Being the height of tourist season, the main roads were crowded, and we found ourselves in one of the few traffic jams we encountered on the island as we pulled into Ennistymon.  We took probably half an hour or so to traverse our way  through town in the stop-and-go traffic... but we enjoyed every minute of it.  We have often referred to Ennistymon since then as "that place with the wonderful traffic jam," since the town itself was so visually charming... and our fellow jam-ees were so mellow.  Not a beep or a toot.  Several times in the stop-and-go I thought about hopping out of the car and grabbing the camera out of the trunk, but never did.

Now that I know that Ennistymon was home to O'Ronnie's great-great grandfather, I'm awfully sorry  I didn't.

Maybe next time.
